The result of partnering with Analog Devices and Micron Technology, the company's latest development kit promises to simplify the design of video surveillance applications. Based on a Blackfin processor from Analog Devices and a CMOS image sensor from Micron, the kit enables engineers to tap into the expanding market for digital video surveillance systems, which are reportedly replacing CCTV systems. It combines control and signal processing with CMOS image sensors to analyze digital video for motion detection, threat analysis, and alerting capabilities for creating smart-camera applications. The kit provides two parallel peripheral interface (PPI) units supporting ITU-R 656 video data formats and dual Blackfin cores within a single chip. The kit comes on a single 2" x 3" card at a special introductory price of $499. AVNET INC., Phoenix, AZ. (800) 408-8353.
