ITOX G4M100-MS12 Mini-ITX Motherboard

Nov. 23, 2006
Automotive environments require rugged but powerful solutions like the ITOX G4M100-MS12 Mini-ITX motherboard. It comes with an Intel Celeron processor.

The $412, G4M100-MS12 Mini-ITX motherboard (see the Figure) from ITOX comes with a 479-pin, 1.2-GHz Intel Mobile Celeron processor. It runs a 400-MHz system bus. The processor is supported by the Intel 852GM chip set that includes the 852GM Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) and the 82801DB I/O Controller Hub (ICH4). The processor comes with its own heat sink/fan combination.

The board will handle up to a pair of 184-pin unbuffered DDR SDRAM DIMMs for up to 1 Gbyte of memory. It can use PC1600 memory or faster. The flash BIOS is from Award.

The system monitors the processor and system temperature and provides a built-in overheat and over-voltage alarm. It can handle the two fans.

The G4M100-MS12 can allocate up to 64 Mbytes of system memory to the 3D graphics system. It can drive a VGA output or LFP (Local Flat Panel) LVDS interface. The latter supports single- or dual-channel LVDS panels up to SXGA resolutions with 18bits/pixel. Supported panel frequency ranges are 25 MHz to 112 MHz.

The Realtek ALC655 can deliver 5.1-channel audio output. It has a pair of 16-bit full-duplex codecs with independent, variable sampling rates. It supports true stereo line level outputs and an S/PDIF-in/out interface.

The 10/100 Ethernet support is provide by an 82562GT Fast Ethernet controller. The Serial ATA (SATA) support uses a VIA VT6421L controller provides two SATA 1.0 interfaces. There is an IDE interface with UltraDMA support.

The motherboard has a pair of PS/2 ports for the keyboard and mouse. There are three serial ports and four USB 2.0 ports. The backpanel also has connectors for the network, video and audio sections already mentioned. Expansion is available via a PCI slot although there is not enough space within the VoomPC to handle an additional card. There is also a DIO (direct IO) connector.

The G4M100-MS12 makes a great platform for display-based or headless applications.
