Designed to network enable serial devices for remote access and control, the QSE-400D and ESE-400D device servers feature software-selectable RS-232/422/485 interfaces on all ports. In addition, a built-in web server makes configurations and support available via a web browser. At the heart of the 400 series is a Freescale PowerPC processor, which is part of an architecture that the company claims offers very low latency. The device also features an auto-sensing 10/100 Ethernet interface and the company's high-speed, 921k-baud serial technology. Providing four QSE or eight ESE serial ports, the servers boast of surpassing comparable marketplace offerings in versatility, flexibility, and ease of use for multi-electronic interface (MEI) products. Other features include a choice of operating modes and small-footprint steel enclosures. Available April 15th, list prices for the QSE-400D and ESE-400D are $525 and $825 each, respectively.
