Modules Go Deep Into Embedded Systems

The ESM modules are complete computer systems on a mezzanine card that can be plugged into a carrier card for extending system I/O capabilities. They are for use in deeply embedded applications, with the first of these embedded system modules being the EM02, a 71 x 149-mm module that employs either a 933- or 400-MHz Celeron processor, 133-MHz data bus, 16 KB of first-level cache, and either 512 or 256 KB of level-two cache. The EM02 is compatible with all PCI-bus standards, including 32- and 64-bit at 33- or 66-MHz. Other features include an Intel graphics chipset, VGA connector, USB port, Gb Ethernet port, and support for up to 512 MB of DRAM. Price starts at $995 each. MEN MICRO INC., Carrollton, TX.
