QuickLogic’s SPI Host Controller Trims Time To Market

Sporting a low pin count interface and a small footprint, the company's latest customer-specific standard-product (CSSP), the SPI Host Controller, promises to take a slice out of product-development time. According to the company, current wireless chipsets include several host interfaces including SDIO, SPI, and mini-PCI. A SDIO Host Controller requires 15 customizable building blocks (CBBs) and PCI requires six to nine CBBs depending on the configuration. This SPI Host Controller, on the other hand, requires just three CBBs and four I/Os, freeing CSSP resources to handle additional functions. Clock speed is up to 52 MHz, and the SPI software driver requires low overhead and is customizable for specific peripherals. The SPI Host Controller comes with full software support and is available now as part of the CSSP system-block library. QUICKLOGIC CORP., Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 990-4000.
