Pressure Sensors Take Comfort In Hostile Media

Diving into less-than cordial applications involving ammonia, hydrogen, hydraulic controls, and energy/water management, the AST 4000 family of stainless steel, isolated pressure sensors promise long-term stability and long life. Described as cost-effective strain-gauge pressure sensors, they provide either mV or amplified outputs with a wide range of options. The AST4100 sensors are available with outputs of 10 mV/V, 0.5V to 4.5V ratiometric, 1 to 5V, 1 to 6V, 0.25 to 5V, or 4 to 20 mA. For panel-mount designs, the AST4200 sensors target critical applications where media entry into compartments is unacceptable. They employ a one-piece bulkhead design that eliminates the need for adapters and are available with outputs of 10 mV/V, 4 to 20 mA, and 1 to 5V. Shared features include gauge, sealed-gauge, and compound-gauge measurement ranges up to 10,000 psi, an accuracy of less than +0.5% BFSL at 25°C, and a long-term stability of +0.25% of full-scale output per year. Single-unit pricing begins at $85. AMERICAN SENSOR TECHNOLOGIES INC., Landing, NJ. (973) 398-9900.
