Leeds, England: Global electronics distributor Farnell signed an agreement with Altera Corp. to stock and support the design-in of its FPGA products in Europe. The new arrangement follows the recent signing of a similar agreement for the Asia Pacific region. This is the first time Altera’s FPGA devices have been offered and supported by a multichannel, high service distributor outside North America.

Farnell will offer the full line of Altera FPGA and CPLD devices including the high-density Stratix FPGA series, the Cyclone FPGA series, Arria GX FPGA series, and MAX II CPLD series, through its 24 Web sites, paper-based catalogues, and field and telesales force. Stock will be held locally at Farnell warehouses.

Commenting on the new agreement with Altera, Andy King, president of Farnell Europe and Global Head of the Electronic Design Engineering (EDE) Segment says "We are very excited about what this will mean to our customers across Europe and Asia Pacific. The combination of local stock and local language support plus online tools, such as the FPGA selector guide, will help speed and simplify the process of incorporating Altera’s class-leading custom logic devices into new designs."
