Tooled for backplane applications, the GbX connector system operates at speeds from 6 to 10 Gb/s while providing densities up to 69 differential pairs per linear inch. Crosstalk is specified as less than 5% with 100W differential performance when operating at either speed. Combining the ability to route in two directions and a rugged mechanical design, the system eliminates PCB layers and the need for extra protective hardware. It is compatible with existing and future generations of XAUI, existing and future InfiniBand systems, and ready for emerging OIF directives. Available in 5- and 4-pair configurations, with a 3-pair available in 2005, pricing is from $0.13 to $0.16 per mated signal in production quantities. MOLEX INC., Lisle, IL. (630) 969-4550.
