Resulting from collaboration with Duracell, the company's dc-power jack employs an isolated switching contact that inhibits non-rechargeable (primary) battery charging within the host device. The component is earmarked for use in the myriad of end-user products capable of using interchangeable power sources. Ideally, it will be paired with Duracell's prismatic CP1 lithium primary battery for digital cameras. The battery is configured with the positive terminal offset from the position of the complementary NP-60 rechargeable lithium-ion battery's positive terminal. The jack's isolated contact breaks the connection from an external power supply to the positive terminal of CP1, but does not affect the rechargeable battery connection to the charger. Additionally, the isolated switching contact specifies a resistance of less than 10 mΩ. VALCONN ELECTRONICS INC., Union, NJ. (908) 687-1600.
