Groomed for the SPiiPlus and MC4U families of motion controllers, the HSSI-HES high-speed serial interface (HSSI) peripheral module supports EnDat v2.2 and Tamagawa Smart-Abs absolute encoders. Each module handles one or two feedback devices of either kind. Connection from the HSSI-HES to the controller is via the SPiiPlus’ HSSI using industry standard Cat5 cabling, allowing for distances up to 20m from the controller. Other features of the HSSI-HES include encoder error protection to ensure true position feedback, a 20-kHz sampling rate synchronized with the servo cycle, and support for index detection and latching of encoder position.
