Developed for wireless communication products using CDMA800 technology such as cell phones and laptops, the ultra-small SAW Duplexer series measures just 3.0 mm x 2.5 mm x 0.80 mm. The device's footprint shrunk by 52% compared to its predecessors after a change was made in the mounting method from wire bonding to flip-chip construction. Despite its small footprint, the device achieves higher isolation characteristics through optimization of the piezoelectric element materials and the electrode design. An airtight design and improved thermal shock characteristics improve reliability. Power handling, which doesn't usually co-exist with downsized piezoelectric elements, was maintained through improved manufacturing methods and materials. Product life is said to be 50,000 hours under an ambient temperature of 50°C at 1.0W. Sample price is $1. MURATA ELECTRONICS NORTH AMERICA INC., Smyrna, GA. (77) 436-1300.
