A family of small form-factor pluggable (SFP) products has been developed for use in short-haul networking applications. The products include a SFP-to-HSSDC-2 converter, an active and passive patch-cord assembly, a copper loop back, 20-position SMT connector, and an EMI cage. They are designed to provide gigabit connections over copper Fibre Channel systems and are said to be a cost-effective alternative to fiber optics. The family is suitable for use in Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Infiniband, and any application where an MSA-compliant component is required and they are compliant with the small form-factor pluggable multi-source agreement (MSA) requirements.
