The fruit of a joint venture with Kinetic Systems, the MK26 series vibration-control workstation handles ultra-low, natural-frequency applications and supports negative-stiffness vibration isolators. The workstation reportedly performs about 10 to 100 times better than high-performance air tables, depending on vibration isolation frequencies, and better than active or electronic-cancellation systems. It is configurable for a variety of applications and customized with a range of vibration-isolation accessories. Vertical-motion isolation is handled via a stiff spring combined with a negative-stiffness mechanism. Net vertical stiffness is kept low without affecting the static-load-supporting capability of the spring. The unit's isolators, when adjusted to 0.5 Hz, achieve 93% isolation efficiency at 2 Hz, 99% at 5 Hz, and 99.7% at 10 Hz. The unit has a maximum load capacity of 700 lbs., maximum width of 48", and a maximum depth of 36". Pricing starts at $6,920. MINUS K TECHNOLOGY INC., Inglewood, CA. (310) 348-9656.
