These new backlights utilize as few as one LED for many applications that normally require 2, 3 or more LEDs. The UniLED backlights use the company's proprietary MicroLens LED-based molded backlighting technology, which is said to distribute uniform, high-output backlighting at very low power.
UniLEDs can supply high-brightness backlighting for a variety of portable products that utilize smaller size LCDs. These include cellular phones, thermostats and handheld test and measurement instruments, such as the Fluke 80 Series III multimeter shown here.
