Daytime Headlight Uses Just Two LEDs

March 22, 2010
the OSTAR compact LED employs only two LEDs in conjunction with light guides and is capable for driving high currents, making it viable for both existing and emerging headlight designs

Developed specifically for use in vehicle headlights, the OSTAR compact LED employs only two LEDs in conjunction with light guides and is capable for driving high currents, making it viable for both existing and emerging headlight designs. With a power consumption of 5W and an operating current of 1.4A, the component achieves a typical brightness of 300 lm and its 2 mm² chip provides high luminance.  With this small, high power light source, light guide systems can be produced with just two LEDs.
