Eden Prairie, MN- A two-year, $1.8-million award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has been presented to Nonvolatile Electronics Inc. (NVE) for the development of a family of integrated magnetic isolation devices- the devices are required in networks, telephones, modems, faxes, and cable interfaces. The project is expected to lead to the miniaturization of one of the few remaining components that has not kept pace with this trend in the electronics industry. The technology being employed by NVE integrates magnetic materials, micro coils and ICs onto a single silicon-based structure, yielding tiny components that isolate one circuit from another.
