Infrared LED Squeezes Into Miniscule Package

Residing in an ultraminiature, 0805 surface mount package, the OP200 is a high-power, GaAlAs infrared LED. The 880 nm device incorporates a flat molded lens that provides a wide beam angle and an evenly distributed emission pattern. Electrical performance is characterized at 30V reverse voltage, 1.5V forward voltage, 50 mA continuous forward current and power dissipation of 130 mW at 25°C. The device produces 0.2 mW/cm2 apertured power at 20 mA forward current. It is RoHS-compliant, as well as compatible with high temperature, lead-free soldering processes, and is rated for operation from -25°C to +85°C. In addition, the device is designed to be mechanically and spectrally matched to the company’s OP520 Series silicon NPN phototransistors. Typical pricing for the OP200 starts at $0.20 each/2,500.
