Housed in an ultra-miniature, double-molded four-pin SOP, the PS7431-1A single-channel, solid state relay (SSR) measures just 4 mm x 7 mm with a pin pitch of 7.54 mm. Said to be the industry's smallest SSR and suited for use in hook switch applications, the relay provides isolation to 3 kV and is compliant with medical and European safety standards. Electrical characteristics include a load current of 120 mA, an on resistance of 24ohms typical, a breakdown voltage of 350V, and on and off times of 0.8 ms and 0.07 ms, respectively. According to the company, this level of performance is available only in a six-pin DIP device. The relay is bipolar, making it capable of controlling both ac and dc loads. It includes a GaAs LED on the input side and a pair of MOSFETs on the output side. Price starts at $0.95 each in production quantities.
