Delivering bias current to OLEDs and LCDs in portable products such as PDAs and digital cameras, the MAX8570 and MAX8575 family of step-up converters operate from a 2.7V to 5.5V supply voltage and employ an internal switch that delivers up to 28V at the output. The devices exhibit efficiencies up to 87% while consuming just 25 µA of quiescent current in light-load conditions. Each device includes an extra internal switch to provide true shutdown. The MAX8570 family is available with 110, 250, and 500 mA current limits in both adjustable and fixed output voltages. Shared features include an array of protection functions and an operating temperature range from ?40°C to +85°C. Offered in six-pin SOT23 packages, prices start at $1.25 each/1,000.
