Housed in a metal-and-g1ass TO-92 package designed to eliminate the life-shortening degradation of standard clear epoxy encapsulants, the UV-400-TO92 Series ultraviolet LEDs are said to be the market’s first such devices capable of producing a radiant flux of 12 mW per chip (typ.) with a stable, 400-nm wavelength. Available as multi-chip and cluster arrays and targeted for use in currency validation, medical, security/biometric, and other applications, the UV LEDs also tout a life expectancy of 20,000 hrs. Pricing is from $2.35 each in volume quantities. BIVAR INC, Irvine, CA. (800) 772-2377.
