HDD Read-Channel Chip Uses 0.13 µm Process Technology

Debuting as the industry’s first hard-disk drive (HDD) read-channel integrated circuit (IC) implemented in 0.13 µm process technology, the company's latest device delivers data transfer rates of 1.6 Gb/s under worst case conditions. This is reported as a 40% increase compared to currently available components. Engineering samples of the 0.13 µm read channel ICs are available to qualified customers and production is scheduled for the first half of 2003.
