Supporting audio and navigation applications, the 32-bit V850E/Sx3-H MCUs offer what may be the industry’s highest flash memory capacity at 1.5 MB. Debuting in 0.5-mm pin-pitch QFP packages, the devices can execute 85 Dhrystone MIPS at a clock speed of 48 MHz. To boost reliability, they integrate spread spectrum clock generators, which reduce the MCU clock’s oscillation (fundamental) and higher frequencies. Reportedly, this helps to reduce the risk of degraded radio performance and chip errors. It also decreases the number of necessary resources to evaluate and investigate EMI in anti-EMI components. Backward compatible with the V850ES/SG3 and V850ES/SJ3 models, other features include eight UART channels, eight CSI channels, and six I2C channels. Samples of the MCUs are available now. The six V850E/SJ3-H MCUs are available in 144-pin QFPs and the three V850E/SK3-H MCUs are available in 176-pin QFPs. Expect production to begin in November 2009.
