Gearing up for battery-powered products, the EM6580 microcontroller combines true low-current operation with no external components, a 4-bit a/d converter or 12-level voltage detector, and flash memory. Operating from a 2V to 5.5V supply, the device consumes just 5.8 µA in active mode, 3.3 µA in standby mode, and 0.32 µA in sleep mode. Other features include 4k x 16-bit flash memory and 80 x 4-bit RAM, five or six I/Os with two 20 mA outputs, power-on-reset with power-check and brownout control, sleep-counter reset, automatic wake up from sleep mode with four selectable timings, 32 to 800 kHz RC oscillator, and an 8-bit serial interface. Additionally, each device is capable of storing a unique and independent 52-bit serial identification number. The EM6580 is available now in SO-8 and SO-14 packages, as well as in die form.
