SoC Tooled For EVM Smart Card Terminals

Trumpeted as the first true system on chip (SoC) for EVM smart card terminals, the 73S1121F includes an 8052 processor, USB interface, and two smart-card interfaces with dedicated UART. The device also integrates development software layers, I/O, 64 KB of flash memory, 4 KB of RAM, and a PIN pad interface. A low-level API is provided for device control, and a high-level API contains the protocol layers for asynchronous cards and the USB. The two ISO7816/EVM smart-card interfaces can be used to simultaneously connect to a card and to a secure application module. Samples are available now with production scheduled for June. Price is less than $9 in quantity. For further details, call TDK SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Tustin, CA. (714) 508-8800.
