Built into a compact XMC (switched mezzanine card) conduction-cooled format, the VPP-8112 video I/O and processor module accommodates various input and output channels with high-power image processing. Create Electronic Systems’ (CES) module, designed to withstand tough environmental conditions, integrates Texas Instruments’ DaVinci digital media processor. It also features an ARM Cortex-A8 processor running an embedded Linux system, a floating-point VLIW digital signal processor, a video image coprocessor for H.264 and MPEG-4 video compression and decompression, and a 3D graphics processing unit. I/O peripherals provide support for a PCIe Gen2 link, two Gigabit Ethernet links, a SATA-II interface for external storage, and two USB 2.0 ports. Two stereo audio inputs and outputs complement the module’s video capability. The VPP-8112’s low power consumption and conduction-cooled XMC format enable its installation on any single-board processor or passive carrier. It comes with a device driver for an x86 Linux or PPC VxWorks host. Air- and conduction-cooled options are available.
