Happy Friday, everyone.
Digital control is becoming a bigger deal in power electronics, allowing a deeper view of what's going on inside and outside a power supply. XP Power is adding another dimension to it with its latest series of configurable AC-DC power supplies. In today's first story, VP of product management Simon Wheeler tells me all about the "fully digital" architecture under the hood.
For a deeper dive into digital power, I have also included several videos from Electronic Design's archive. The topics include measuring digital control loops in DC-DC converters and exploring a new class of power-factor correction (PFC) controller for AC-DC converter stages.
And, in case you missed it, Power Integrations named Jennifer Lloyd—most recently the head of the multi-market power business unit at Analog Devices—as its next CEO. She succeeds Balu Balakrishnan, who has served as CEO since 2002.
