Hello,
Deliberation about the Solid-State Battery reveal at last week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) by Donut Lab has taken a turn towards being possible in industry-expert Michael Sura's article.
Michael's article sparked a thought with me, so I wrote a sidebar in that piece that explored another way, based on Michael's diligence, how the energy storage device could be imminent. At 400Wh/kg, 12C charging, a lifetime of 100,000 and operating from -30C to 100C Donut Lab's Solid State Battery would have many applications in mobility and aerospace.
The FCC has taken a step back on its foreign made drones and drone parts ban, though it still seems to claim regulatory authority over batteries and motors. More details in the article, below. If you review their Congress-granted authority, this seems to be beyond its scope. Look to another round of changes, IMO.
Chery seems to be making massive strides in energy density for its internally developed solid-state EV batteries, with the Chinese EV manufacturer claiming 604 Wh/kg, and has a pilot production vehicle imminent with a leading metrics. Murray gets into the details, below.
Bill Wong also brings us a "two speed" IMU from the exhibit floor at last week's CES in Las Vegas. For more CES coverage, we have a one-stop area of the site, which I've provided in this newsletter, where you can find all of our CES coverage.
Check back in from time to time, since we have several hundred gigs of CES exhibitor video from James and Bill to process, write up, and post - it'll be aggregated in that section.
enjoy,
