A new 5-GHZ directional, parabolic grid antenna has been designed for wireless broadband communications markets. The Model GD5x antenna comes in three frequency ranges and two gain configurations with operation in vertical or horizontal polarization. Applications include wireless LANs and point-to-point backhaul links. Compared with a typical solid reflector or round grid design, the GD5x antenna is said to have ultra-low wind loading and lower weight, requiring less of a support structure, and resulting in a more stable installation with improved RF communication performance. Constructed of welded, galvanized steel wires, the antenna is powder coat painted with a light gray epoxy paint. The galvanized steel mounting bracket is capable of ±45° tilt. Operating frequency ranges for the GD5x include 5,150 to 5,350 MHz, 5,470 to 5,725 MHz, and 5,725 to 5825 MHz, with 21/22 dBi and 25/26 dBi gain choices. Actual configurations result in the availability of six different antenna models. The GD5x is equipped with a bulkhead Type N female connector. 21/22 dBi model measures 11.8” x 15.7” and weighs 3 lbs, while the 25/26 dBi model measures 16.8” x 24” and weighs 6 lbs. Operating temperature range is –40°C to +70°C. Pricing starts at $59.46 each/100. PACIFIC WIRELESS, Draper, UT. (801) 572-3024.
