EMI Filter Produces Three Times Sharper Roll-Off Rate

July 1, 2002
A new SMT EMI filter series produces a roll-off rate three times sharper than standard three-terminal capacitors. Available in the smaller 0603 size, the NFL18ST series reportedly provides similar performance when evaluated next to 1206 and 0805

A new SMT EMI filter series produces a roll-off rate three times sharper than standard three-terminal capacitors. Available in the smaller 0603 size, the NFL18ST series reportedly provides similar performance when evaluated next to 1206 and 0805 sized products. The sharp roll-off rate of 60 dB/dec can suppress noise effectively with little or no signal attenuation and maintain a clear wave form. The EMI filter is available in five different values of cutoff frequency ranging from 100 MHz up to 500 MHz. Sample prices begin at $0.30. MURATA ELECTRONICS NORTH AMERICA INC., Smyrna, GA.
