Equivalent series resistance (ESR) values for the new PSA series aluminum capacitors are some 25% to 40% lower than the existing PS series of these radial lead devices. The ultra-low ESR (i.e., 6 to 9 m? at 20°C and 100 kHz), as well as higher ripple current (4.7 to 5.8 Arms), result from the use of a solid conductive polymer as the capacitors' electrolyte. Other advantages stemming from the use of the polymer design are stable performance and high reliability over an expected life of 2,000 hr. at 105°C. The PSA series capacitors are available with rated voltages of 2.5, 4, 6.3 and 10 Vdc and capacitance values of 270 to 1,000 µF. And they are made of lead-free materials, have resin-coated cans—the caps have no PVC sleeving—and come in 8 mm x 11.5 mm and 10 mm x 11.5 mm case sizes. Price is $0.20 to $0.30 each/10,000.
