A broad variety of class X-2 metallized polypropylene film capacitors and class Y ceramic capacitors have international safety ratings for use in ac applications. The X-2 units are designed for interference suppression and across-the-line applications, and the Y types are well-suited for line-to-ground and across-the-line uses. X-2 units are rated for 275 vac (50/60 Hz) with 2000 vac maximum with 0.0047 to 2.2 µF values. Y types are rated at 125, 250 and 400 vac with 100 to 10,000 pF values.
