A second generation line of film dielectric capacitors has been disgned as a direct physical replacement for electrolytic capacitors with an identical footprint in the same sizes. The Unlytic UL30 film capacitor, with a dry construction ensuring no leakage of harmful electrolytes, claims a service and shelf life of up to ten years.
Plus the Ulytic UL30 is purported to offer ten times the current density of electrolytic of the same physical size, as well as three times greater overvoltage protection and higher voltage ratings. Unlytic UL30 can now be specified with a M12 mounting stud for added mechanical stability. They are available in voltage ratings up to 1,000 and capacitances to 1,600 µF.
