Tantalum Nitride Resistor Chips Said To Achieve New Levels Of Precision

A series of tantalum nitride resistor chips has been enhanced in response to demands from design engineers for increased precision and stability. The PFC Series ultra-precision resistors are manufactured using the company’s self-passivating TaNFilm process, which produces ultra-stable resistive elements without the corrosion problems associated with nichrome resistors. Typical applications for the PFC Series resistors include precision circuits in instrumentation, medical equipment, computers, power supplies and telecommunications. The chips are available in resistance values from 5? to 1 M? in tolerances from ±0.02% to ±1%. Absolute TCRs are available to ±10 ppm/°C. Power ratings for the various chip sizes in the series are: 0603 (100 mW); 0805 (250 mW); 1206 (333 mW); and 1505 (350 mW). Operating temperature range is -65°C to 150°C. Typical pricing for the PFC Series ultra-precision resistors (at ±0.02% tolerance and ±10 ppm/°C TCR) start at $0.95 each/5K. IRC INC., Corpus Christi, TX. (361) 992-7900.
