During the days of the Wild West, Texas had a reputation for being home to some of the nation's richest cattle barons and shrewdest gamblers. So, it's no surprise that the city of Houston is betting that the worst of the latest COVID outbreak will be behind us by March 20-24, 2022. That’s when the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) returns to an in-person format, following two years of COVID-induced exile in cyberspace.
Held at Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center, APEC will treat its attendees to a jam-packed five day program of technical sessions, industry sessions, seminars, exhibits, and other industry events.
Five Days of Innovation
The technical program presentations are held from Tuesday morning through Thursday afternoon. These sessions feature peer-reviewed papers that cover all areas of technical interest for the practicing power electronics professional. Topics include:

- Modeling & Simulation of Power Electronics Systems
- Power Electronic Converters for Renewable Energy Systems
- Power Converters for Utility Applications

Papers with a more specialized focus are available for discussion with the authors at the dialogue sessions. These sessions cover many areas of technical interest to the practicing power electronics professional. These papers provide practical design insights that you can apply in your work immediately. The Industry Sessions schedule runs in parallel with the traditional Technical Sessions track and features a wide range of practical topics in power electronics from noted industry players. Highlights include:

- Addressing Gate Driver Design Challenges
- Driving and Protecting SiC and GaN with an Isolated Gate Driver in EV Inverter Applications

APEC's return to the non-virtual world also signals the return of its highly popular RAP Sessions, which, as always, feature exciting and contentious topics. Held live during the conference, RAP Sessions allow for energetic, open dialogue between attendees and presenters. This year's RAP topics include:

Attendees also can enjoy APEC's legendary hospitality at an evening of networking and reconnecting with old friends at its famous Wednesday Night Social Event, held this year at the Houston Spaceflight Center and catered by Wolfgang Puck. The event includes admission to all of the Center's exhibits, and the opportunity to toast your colleagues in the shadow of the Space Shuttle.
