Described as low-power devices, the DVCH series dc/dc converters deliver 1.5W in what is said to be the most efficient 0.975" x 0.8" x 0.27" package available. Employing proprietary magnetic isolation technology for radiation immunity and qualified to MIL-PRF-38534, the converters set their sights on military and aerospace applications. Specs include an output noise of 50 mVp-p, input noise of 30 mVp-p, input voltages from 12V to 50V (28V nominal), single outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 5.2V, 12V, and 15V, input transient voltage tolerance of 80V for one second per MIL-STD-704A, under-voltage lockout, and an operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C. The devices do not integrate opto isolators, a feature that promises enhanced reliability. Custom and radiation hardened versions are available and dual-output converters (±5V, ±12V, and ±15V) will be announced later this year. Offered in precision, projection-welded hermetic packages weighing 11g, price is $190 each in OEM quantities. VPT INC., Blacksburg, VA. (425) 353-3010.
