3-W Isolated DC-DCs Boost Efficiency Across Power Curve For Industrial Apps

Jan. 23, 2014
Two isolated dc-dc converter families increase total efficiency across the entire load curve and boost performance at light and no loads, says developer CUI.

Two isolated dc-dc converter families increase total efficiency across the entire load curve and boost performance at light and no loads, says developer CUI. The PQMC3-S series, rated at 3 W, features input ranges of 4.5 ~ 9, 9 ~ 18, 18 ~ 36, or 36 ~ 75 V dc. The PQM3-M series offers input ranges of 9 ~ 18, 18 ~ 36, or 36 ~ 75 V dc. Operating temperature for both families ranges from −40 to +85°C at 100% load. Packaging for the PQMC3-S is a 0.86- by 0.37- by 0.47-in., 8-pin SIP, while the PQM3-M comes in a 0.94- by 0.54- by 0.30-in., 16-pin SMT package. Both are available in single output voltages of 5, 12, or 15 V dc, the SIP version of the PQMC3-S also has dual output voltages of ±5, ±12, or ±15 V dc. Outputs are fully regulated to within ±0.2 (typical) for all line and load conditions. Input-to-output isolation measures 1500 V dc. All models incorporate short-circuit and overcurrent protection. Applications include industrial, test and measurement, telecom, and battery-driven designs.
