The MAX5091 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator Headed for automotive applications, the MAX5091 low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator specifies an operating input-voltage range from 5V to 40V and can withstand transients up to 40V. The device features a user-adjustable reset timeout, programmable via an external capacitor. This active-low microprocessor reset circuit is triggered when the regulator output drops 10% below nominal voltage, thereby providing an early warning of impending power failures. An ENABLE input then turns the regulator off. Maximum light-load quiescent current is 100 µA, and the regulator delivers up to 100 mA of output current with a maximum dropout of 50 mV. Stable operation is achieved with a small, 10-µF ceramic capacitor. Available in 8-pin, surface-mount TDFN and SO-EP housings, pricing starts at $1.25 each/1,000.
