Boasting of a programmable peak current feature, as well as excellent accuracy over line, load and temperature, the SP6644/45 high efficiency (92%), low-voltage switching-boost regulators are targeted for use in pagers, digital still cameras, MP3 players, and other low-power portable products powered by single- or dual-cell alkaline batteries.
The ICs' voltage input can range from 0.2V to 3.3V, while their output range, although preset for 3.3V ±4%, can be adjusted from 2V to 5.5V with two external resistors. The PFM boost converters can also source up to 150 mA with an input as low as 2.6V. In addition, the SP6644 provides a battery-low signal for inputs SP6644/45 ICs come in eight-pin MSOP and µSOIC packages and have a starting price of $1.05 each/10,000.
