Designed to meet the needs of fixed and mobile VSAT uplink ground terminals, the AM42-00XX GaAs MMIC power amplifiers are built using the company's 0.5-µm MESFET process and are assembled in an industry-standard hermetic package. Typical applications for the devices include VSAT uplink terminals for credit-card verification and for downloading of information to a mobile source. The family offers three amplifiers each for the C-band and Ku-band, with saturated output power from 2W to 3W for the former and 0.5W to 2W for the latter. C-band amplifiers range from 5.9 to 7.1 GHz, enabling the uplink to communicate with the various frequencies employed in the band worldwide. The Ku-band amplifiers range from 14 to 14.5 GHz. Individual amplifiers have gains from 30 to 32 dB in C-band and from 22 to 28 dB in Ku-band, depending on the saturated output power. The power amplifiers are 100% RF tested to ensure that they meet performance specifications.
