Designed to add power management capabilities to PCI adapter cards and other systems operating from multiple power sources, the CMPWR330 integrates two low-dropout regulators (LDOs) with a switch to deliver up to 400 mA of load current at a fixed 3.3V output. The switch is implemented using SmartOR technology, which promises glitch-free regulated output with built-in hysteresis. Satisfying IAPC power management requirements, the device switches between one of three input sources on a priority basis.
Output is supplied from an internal LDO operating from either the 5V supply or a standby 5V input when available. If neither voltage source is available, a 3.3V auxiliary supply is selected. Available in a thermally-enhanced eight-pin SOIC, the power management IC costs $0.82 each/10,000 with a production lead-time of eight weeks ARO.
