Two new 150-mA LDO regulators are said to have the highest available current density in a 5-pin SC-70 package. Their 2 mm x 2 mm footprint makes them well-suited for use in battery-powered equipment such as cell phones, PDAs and other noise-sensitive electronics. Under a 150-mA load condition, the SiP21101 and SiP21102 feature a low dropout of 130 mV and a ground current of 110 µA. Designed to maintain regulation while delivering 300-mA peak current, both ICs feature a start-up time of 50 µs. Fifteen fixed output voltage options range from 1.2V to 5.0V. The SiP21101 provides a quiet voltage source thanks to an external noise bypass capacitor connected to its BP pin that reduces noise to 30 µV. The same pin on the SiP21102, which has a noise output of 75 µV, functions as an error flag output that goes low when the output voltage drops 4% below its normal voltage. Pricing is $0.40 each/1,000. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY, INC., Malvern, PA. (619) 336-0860.
