The MAX3397E two-channel, bidirectional level translator provides level shifting for data transfer in multi-voltage systems by accepting voltage ranges from 1.2V to 5.5V on the VL side and 1.65V to 5.5V on the ±15-kV, ESD-protected VCC side. Over its specified operating-voltage ranges, the device guarantees a data rate of 8 Mb/s. Also notable, an enable pin activates the shutdown mode by disconnecting the internal 10-kW pull-up resistors on the VCC and VL lines, forcing the I/O lines into a high-impedance state and decreasing supply current to less than 1 mA. Available in an eight-pin, 2 mm x 2 mm microDFN package, prices start at $1.18 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
