Optimized for use in multiphase dc/dc converters operating above 1 MHz, this MOSFET chipset can handle high power levels in a compact package. The chipset includes the IRLR8503 control FET and the IRLR8103 synchronous FET for use in single- or multi-phase synchronous buck circuits. Because peak currents per phase are reduced, surface-mount MOSFETs can replace heatsink mounted devices, even in converters capable of providing more than 30A. Also, the size of the inductors and number of capacitors can be reduced by increasing the operating frequency of the converters to the 1-MHz range. Pricing is $1.35 each/100,000.
