A compact, rugged design and an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C are among the features expected to help the Jupiter-MM family of dc-to-dc power supplies find their way into mobile PC/104 embedded systems and in particular in air and ground vehicle applications. The modules accept 8 to 30 vdc, making them compatible with both 12V and 24V systems. Output power is provided directly onto the PC/104 bus connectors, as well as on an auxiliary connector for external tapping. Both dual-output (5V and 12V) and quad-output (5V, 12V, -5V and -12V) versions are available. Up to 10A can be provided on the 5V output, or the 50W of total power can be distributed across the four outputs. The supplies offer efficiencies of as high as 92% and employ both a high frequency design that is said to permit smaller inductors to be used and an advanced heatsink technology that enhances the devices' heat dissipation capabilities. The converters also provide remote on/off control.
