With integrated, synchronous power FETs, the EL7551CU step-down, dc/dc regulator generates an output voltage from 1 to 3.8V and is capable of sustaining a continuous load current of 1A. With a 5V input and a 3.3V output, the device is capable of a 94% efficiency. It operates with input voltages from 4.5V to 5.5V and in ambient temperatures from -40ûC to 85ûC. Output voltage is set from 1V to 3.8V via two external resistors. Other features include current sensing, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, over-temperature shutdown, soft start, and under-voltage lockout. In a 16-pin QSOP, price is $2.37 each/1,000.
