The NCP3101 and NCP3102 switching regulators promise to simplify embedded power designs by integrating 6A and 10A synchronous switching regulators and provide a level of integration that will allow users to replace dc/dc modules with embedded designs to reduce system cost while increasing power density. NCP3102 is a 10 A synchronous switching regulator that enables power conversion from a 5V or 12V supply. Integrated 8-milliOhm high-side and low-side FETs contribute to efficiencies greater than 92% for typical buck applications. It also packs a voltage reference of 0.8V for sub 1V operation. With a 6A rating, the NCP3101 is pin-for-pin compatible with and otherwise identical to the NCP3102. Other shared features, include programmable soft-start, cycle-by-cycle current limit, programmable current limit, and both regulators are available in 6 mm x 6 mm QFN packages. Prices for the NCP3102 and NCP3101 are $1.90 and $1.75 each/10,000, respectively. ON SEMICONDUCTOR, Phoenix, AZ. (800) 282-9855.
