Backplane Handles Ethernet Switch Fabric Without Cables

June 1, 2002

This PICMG 2.16 CompactPCI Packet Switching backplane provides a way to implement an Ethernet Switch Fabric in a standard format without the use of cables. It accomplishes this by using standardized backplane connector pinouts. The company, a member of the PICMG 2.16 effort, has performed all of the signal integrity simulations for PICMG 2.16. The CompactPCI Ethernet Packet Switching backplane comes in 8-, 10- and 21-slot versions with two PICMG 2.16 fabric slots. Custom configurations ranging from two to 21 slots can be ordered, with H.110 versions complying with the PICMG 2.5 R.10 CompactPCI Computer Telephony specs also available. The high-performance, low-noise backplanes offer switchable voltages of 5V or 3.3V and a jumperable geographic address. HYBRICON CORP., Ayer, MA. (877) 492-7426.
