Digital Wrapper Provides Additional Coding Gain

Dec. 1, 2001

Incorporating super forward error correct (SuperFEC), the MTC6131 digital wrapper device features full SONET/SDH section overhead processing, G.709 digital wrapper to provide increased coding gain. SuperFEC provides a coding gain of better than 10 dB at 1 x 10-15 corrected bit-error rate (BER) and corrects data streams with greater than 2 x 10-2 BER. It is said that the device adds more than 3 dB of electrical coding gain compared to RS-255/239 FEC. Available in a 720-pin CBGA package measuring 25 mm x 32.5 mm, price is $1,500 each in sample quantities. MULTILINK TECHNOLOGY CORP., Somerset, NJ. (732) 537-3838.
