EDA Roundup

  • A systemverilog implementation working group will drive the phased implementation and multivendor interoperability of SystemVerilog's design and assertion constructs. EDA vendors in the newly formed group include Cadence Design Systems, Magma Design Automation, Novas Software, 0-In Design Automation, and Verisity Ltd. Also contributing are industry experts and consultants Stuart Sutherland and Simon Davidmann. Participating user companies include ARC International, Conexant Systems Inc., Icera Semiconductor, and Micronas GmbH. For more information, visit www.sutherland-hdl.com/sv_interop.

  • Support for greater design complexity comes from upgrades made to Ammocore's Fabrix physical implementation software for system-on-a-chip designers. Enhancements help significantly improve quality of results in timing, area, and productivity. A new placement algorithm yields shorter wire lengths for improved timing and less congestion, while area efficiency is improved by eliminating the rigid boundaries imposed by block-based methodologies.
