Sample Rate Converter Exceeds 130-dB Signal-To-Noise Ratio

Introduced as the industry's first sample rate converter with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in excess of 130 dB, the AD1896 is also claimed to be the first such device to support the 192-kHz specification of the latest Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) standards. The device is a second generation part with increased performance and features, compared to the existing AD1890, that make it useful in a broader range of applications. Extending beyond professional systems, the converter is also for high performance consumer audio products as well. With 1:8 upsampling and 7.75:1 downsampling the device can convert sample rates for virtually any application, including the matching of sample rates between 192-kHz DVD-A to 44.1-kHz CD. New features include TDM, daisy chain, phase matching and bypass modes. Requiring a single 3.3V supply, the device can be made 5V-input tolerant by connecting its VDD_IO pin to a 5V source. Available in a 28-pin SSOP, the converter costs $11.30 each/1,000.
